My name is Catherine, I'm 17 and a senior at NVSS. I first became interested in photography about 2 years ago, when I first joined Instagram. I bought my first camera about a year and a half ago, a Nikon d3100. My favorite things about photography are that there are no limits to what you can do. There are so many different ways to portray just one concept and it provides me with an outlet to express myself. Things that inspire me are nature, my life in general ( like when something happens and I feel a certain way about it, I express myself through the images I capture and the mood of the photos I take often reflect my mood), and I like to read a lot, so I'd say poetry or books definitely inspire some of the concepts I come up with, as well as music and song lyrics as well. I feel like I've got a lot to communicate through photography because growing up and going through elementary and parts of high school, I was bullied and depressed/suicidal at times and I personally know it's difficult to speak out about things like that, so during those times, I turned to photography and music to express those words and thoughts I couldn't say. After I graduate from high school, I plan on attending university and going to medical school to become a doctor or a surgeon. After I get my bachelors degree, one thing I've been wanting to do was to take a year off of school, and teach English in Costa Rica and live abroad for a year. A few of my favorite things are gingerbread cookies, rainy days, tea, cats, comfy sweaters, a good book, and good music ( which ranges from acoustic covers, alternative rock, and country).
